Today I’m on my own and I guess really I should have more of a plan but I don’t. ;-)
Needless to say I never did get up early enough to do the cooking course, I'll do it on the way back. So instead I spent most of the day chilling out and planning what I'm going to do next.
The whole chill part of a trip is a new concept for me but it's one I'm really enjoying so far. So the plan was to go to Malaysia and Singapore, but if I don't get there is it really that big a deal?!
I could actually stay here in Chiang Mai for quite a while but I’m going to move on and see where it takes me next, the plan is to come back through here on my way back south so it’s not like I’m leaving it indefinitely.
I’ve decided to head to Chiang Rai which is further north from here in the hope that there’ll be some good trekking up that way.
I'm also after a nicer GH, cosier and more chilled - I hope I find it.
So with plans sort of in place I decided to visit the night bazaar, I don't have too much intention of buying stuff yet but it's always good to have a look and see what's about right? ;-)
The night bazaar is about a 15 minute walk from my GH and I was expecting a hive of activity when I got there but it was very quiet, now I don't know if it's really quiet following the festival or if I was just too early (although I doubt it) but there just doesn't seem to be many people around at the mo.
Time was ticking by so, as always, high on my list of priorities was food so I made my way to the food center in the bazaar and as I was enjoying a very tasty green curry I looked up to the sky to see that I appeared to be surrounded by, I’m sure 5*, tower block hotels, the traders aren’t daft are they?! And one of them had a rooftop bar. Now that would probably be the kind of place that Monarch would pay for me to stay in if I was here with work but I’m not so after a bit more of a wander round I head back to my lovely little area of a couple of bars and a couple of GHs. I know where I’d rather be and that’s just where I am. You can keep your 5* hotels for when someone else is paying!
Day to do nothing also means no pics though! :-(
